This past Saturday I was lucky enough to attend the Revolve Tour with my Middle & High School girls, and oh MAN was it incredible (The Revolve Tour is basically a show that has a worship band, a couple of speakers, and a boy-band all put together for an audience of teen girls).
It made me really think twice about this devo, honestly. Approaching it at first, I couldn't get over the fact that The Lord our God, the creater of the universe, sent THE Son of Man down to stoop lower than us and ask us to pick up our crosses and follow him. But now I can't help but look at this ultimate sacrifice as the most humbling. The most LOVING.
Jesus is The Son of Man.
Jesus is FREE.
Man is FREE.
WE ARE ALL FREE.
We are all unbound and have broken from our chains because The Son of Man scrapes his knees and crawls into our darkest hole with us not to say "You're better than this" or "You should choose me instead," He's simply saying "I'm here. No, you don't get it. I'm RIGHT HERE. In your most sinful thoughts and what you deem as disgusting acts, I'm here WITH you and will NEVER leave you." I believe this is one of the biggest reasons why Jesus is The Son of Man...who else would love you in your incompleteness and ultimate weakness?
God is so relentless in loving us; He sent down His only son to pursue us in the FLESH! This truth rings so loud in how Perfect and Holy He is. I am so humbled to call him my Savior, my Father, my King!
Thanks for sticking through my long and rambling post! Campers are coming! ...hehe
