There
are always a ton of excuses I tell myself to not sit down and have my quiet
time first thing in the morning: I’m too tired, I need to get started with work
I have, I need to go for a run before it’s too hot, etc. These things seem so
important at the time, but the truth is I have never regretted waking up a
little earlier to sit down and spend some quiet time with God; in fact, it
often makes my day go a lot better, allowing me to align myself with God at the
very beginning of the day. I find myself attuned to God and filled by His
spirit, which in turn fills me with joy only attainable by having a
relationship with God.
That
pure joy that we experience when we are filled by God’s spirit is incomparable
to anything we can possibly experience through the world, but it takes work.
It’s an active, daily choice to commit to be immersed in God’s spirit, but it
is totally worth it to not only experience that joy for yourself, but to share
it with others too!
Also,
imagine it from God’s perspective: He’s not sitting there going “Well it’s
about time you came around”, He feels incredibly joyful when we choose to be
immersed in Him, “He loves to dunk and drench His kids any chance He can get!”
Our relationship with God is so unlike any relationship that we ever get to
experience in our lives because despite all the times we put other things ahead
of Him and no matter how long it’s been, we have a God who gets so pumped to
spend time with us!
