Ahh this devo was so good! Jesus has so much to offer us as the one true bread of life. A few little things stuck out to me this week.
In John 6, the people are asking God what are the works that He requires of them. Verse 29 "Jesus answers, 'The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.'" We went over this at a bible study I was at a few weeks ago and it really stuck with me. It is so simple: Believe. Jesus says don't work for things of this world, but things that endure and last. He says just believe in me! Because we believe, the good works of God flow from that and everything can fall into place. But before we have a relationship, before we eat of the bread of life, before we serve...we have to BELIEVE. It's so straightforward, but sometimes truly believing and trusting is more difficult than it should be.
Before Jesus performs the miracle with the fishes and loaves, the only food they had was five loaves and two fishes brought by a young boy. When that kid woke up that morning, he had no idea that his lunch would be the foundation for one of Jesus's miracles. It just reminds me that God can use anybody and anything in any circumstance to glorify His name.
"I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall NEVER hunger and whoever believes in me shall NEVER thirst." John 6:35
It's there for the taking guys. Jesus will sustain us like nothing else if we let him. Praise the Lord!!
