Hey amigos, Happy Friday! Hope everyone is having a good week!
Since being at school and a part of a new church, I've seen a lot of different perspectives about baptism. Everyone has a different idea about when you should be baptized, what it means, how it should be done...all that. But when John is describing Jesus he says he is "The Lord, the one who Baptizes you in and with the Holy Spirit." Jesus is the ultimate baptizer and He is constantly drenching us with his life, with his Spirit, and with his love! It's about allowing Jesus to fill up our lives with His. I love how Alyssa put it, that we were baptized this morning when we woke up and every day because Jesus continuously gives himself to us completely.
In John 1:23, John says "I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.'" Too often, I put things in front of Jesus in my life. I block his path and I push him away. But John says make straight the way for the Lord. Our God, Yahweh-to-the-rescue, has come to save us! He's here to rescue us from our brokenness, from our pain, from our sin, and all we have to do is make straight the way for Him! If we are hurting and someone is coming to rescue us, why would we ever let anything get in the way?
