Drenched

Being baptized is such an extraordinary thing, but growing up in a Christian home, I don't think I really got to know the true meaning of it until even after I was baptized. I think we look at baptism as just another check off our Christianity list sometimes. But it is just so much more and such a huge, pivotal moment in our own walk with God. I love the word drenched. I love the depiction it gives. To be drenched, there is no part of you dry. You are completely covered. To live a life drenched in God means absolute coverage of our old lives, and a complete new feeling. As if you're being drenched with water, you still look the same, have the same clothes on, same appearance, but you feel different. You know you are soaking wet, you can feel in through your clothes, on every part of you and though your clothes are the same clothes, wet clothes look differently than dry ones. This is our new being. We may look the same superficially, but when the Holy Spirit overwhelms our hearts, there is no hiding from that. And once we experience that, yes our appearance may be the same, but the joy that beams from our hearts will outshine any superficial appearance any day. Once we are drenched we go through a transformation, one that is meant to be shared! There is no sorta kinda in what we proclaim when we get baptized. But who wouldn't want to live a life in of praise and proclamation after being given this new life! To be drenched in life with God, wow what a gift!
