"Jesus turns out to be not only the perfect revelation of who God is, but also the perfect revelation of who we are, of who we were created to be" What really stuck out to me from this devotional was the idea that Jesus is the revelation of who we are.
"we run from Him because in His light we see - painfully at times - how far short we have fallen from who we were mean to be... we feel ashamed". Yup. Definitely feel that one. There are times that I crave so much to be like Jesus but I recognize my mistakes and sins and failures and those thoughts deter me from following Him. It is hard to admit but what I have to recognize is that when I am able to admit to my shame, I can let it go and find shelter and comfort in Him. His light reveals who I am. But his light also reveals who I have been created to be. By following the light, but following his example, I am brought out of the darkness in my life. I stand forever in need of a Redeemer; in need of Him. And I understand, serving this summer is not going to be easy, but the Light of the World will always be there.
